Lee County EDG Hosts Talent Breakfast

Workforce Bigger, Faster, Better

Published Thursday, February 7, 2019

Lee County EDG has achieved great successes in their workforce development program Grow Lee. The program has has 558 students participate in Lego Robotics, over 400 8th graders explore local careers and graduated their 3rd 12 Plus high school employability class.

The breakfast brought together representatives of area industries, businesses, schools and nonprofits to brainstorm about how to cultivate a workforce to fit current and future needs. Our goal is to go bigger and faster, putting more Lee County and SE Iowa residents in good paying jobs and developing a pipeline for our employers to grow.

At today's breakfast we discussed our challenges and the group presented some stretch goal ideas for us to accomplish. Our next step is to pick a stretch goal and develop action steps to accomplish it.
