Sept. 15, 2014 - Over 150 industry and community leaders attended the 2nd Annual Salute to Industry Summit on Monday evening. Keynote speaker Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, said as it stands now, Iowa is working. “I want the people to know that we have a plan in place in Iowa,” Durham said. “It is comprehensive. It deals with the infrastructure. It deals with being site-ready. It deals with supporting an innovation platform. We have an economic development that is working. Are there opportunities to tweak it? Are there opportunities to stretch it at the end? Absolutely, but the plan is working.” Durham said at this point the economic development plan in Iowa is getting great results. Also at the event, Lee County EDG Chairman Dave Schwarz gave an update on the organization and Lee County 2018 Co-chair Joe Steil gave an update on the Lee County 2018 Capital Campaign. Attendees were also able to view exhibits from local industries and educators displaying their capabilities.
