    Talent for Today & Tomorrow
The recent Employer Workforce Survey conducted by LeeCountyEDG provides valuable insight into workforce challenges facing Lee County businesses and industries as they seek to fill job openings created by expansion of their operations and/or the retirement of many of their long-term skilled employees.

The increasing number of highly skilled baby boomers nearing or reaching retirement is presenting a shrinking pool of qualified workers not only locally; but, also for all employers throughout the nation.
Widespread national demographic changes including a shrinking family birth rate are a nation-wide phenomena; however, Lee County also faces several challenges that are not necessarily universal to employers across the country.  Local employers shared their specific and unique workforce concerns in the Lee County survey.  Those concerns, however, represent one side of a coin that has tremendous opportunity on the other side.

That opportunity is available to Lee County job seekers when the right training and educational resources are coupled with job candidates who take advantage of the those resources.  The potential to bring about a win-win-win-win is ripe for the picking.  A win for employers, a win for prospective employees, a win for educators/trainers, and a win for all of Lee County.

From the March LeeCountyEDG Workforce Summit, as well as individual interviews conducted by us over the past several months, and through the recent employer workforce survey -- many of you have indicated a willingness to seek solutions on workforce issues.

To assure the economic health and vitality of Lee County, LeeCountyEDG is inviting you to join with us at 7:30 am on Tuesday, June 24th at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Fort Madison to review an executive summary of what has been learned from our Employer Workforce Survey and to explore what actions are necessary to develop a better prepared and more highly skilled pool of applicants for the Lee County job openings of today and those of tomorrow. Register for the event by emailing Dana Klesner.
