Lee County EDG hosted over 100 people at their 3rd Annual Salute to Industry Wednesday, October 28th at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Fort Madison. The evening focused on the importance of manufacturing in Lee County including a presentation with Lee County industry trivia questions and door prizes from local industries.
With the theme Manufacturing Matters, Lee County EDG highlighted what the 4,398 manufacturing jobs in Lee County does to our local economy. It is undeniable that manufacturing is a driving force in our economy, employing 18.4% of Lee County residents, equaling $250,890,000 in direct wages. “Think of what kind of impact that makes in our communities.” commented Operations Director Dennis Fraise. Lee County ranks 15th in manufacturing jobs among Iowa’s 99 counties
Lee County EDG focuses 80% of their efforts on assisting these manufacturers so they can grow and prosper in Southeast Iowa.
“The Lee County EDG Annual Summit (10/28) was a great opportunity to review and share our initiatives, programs and goals. With the support of our economic development partners and stakeholders, we are making an impact on the future of our Workforce Development, Business Retention and Expansion.” Lee County EDG Chairman Dave Schwarz stated. “It is reassuring to see the leadership of our local industry and manufacturing come together and work as a team. Thanks to all that made our 2015 Summit such a success.”
