Industries have access to the 3 R’s
– Lee County is served by two four-lane highways, US 218 (the Avenue of the Saints) running from Saint Louis, Missouri to Saint Paul, Minnesota; and US Highway 61,which runs through the eastern part of the county.
– Lee County is serviced by the main rail line of BNSF Railway, the largest freight rail transportation network in North America. Providing a vital link to the global supply chain.
– The Mississippi River provides transportation for Lee County industries from Saint Paul, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. Lee County also has access to three inter-modal port terminals.
Lee County industries also have access to the Keokuk and Fort Madison Municipal Airports.
These airports can serve your company’s private carrier needs and can accommodate aircraft such as Sabre Liners in Fort Madison and larger jets such as Gulf Streams and Falcons in Keokuk.
The Fort Madison Airport has two runways, one 4000 ft. concrete surfaced runway and one 2000 ft. grass runway.
The Keokuk Airport has instrument approach and two runways, a primary 5,500 ft. runway and a 3,801 ft. crosswinds runway. Each of these runways is 100 feet wide and PCC Surfaced. Other services provided are airframe repair, power plant repairs, itinerant storage such as hanger and tie downs airplane rental and sales. Planned additions for 2006: Instrument Approach Glide Slope and Remote Communications Outlet.
Both airports offer fueling, hanger, storage, charter and flight instruction.
